A lot of gamers have been complaining about authentication issues with World Of Warcraft. I wrote this guide to help you fix the problem. If these do not work you will be able to tell if the problem is on your end or WoW's end.
First, you should check the Blizz site to see if any updates are currently going on.

WOW Insider also keeps up to date on changes that Bizzard.com might not have posted.

If that doesn't help you want to check your network connection. If you’re trying to play behind a firewall at work, that could be the issue. If you are playing at home, make sure your firewall is turned off and see if that fixes the WoW stuck at authenticating problem.
Also double check your login information. Sounds simple but you'd be surprised.
If none of the above fixes work then 99% of the time it is a problem on WoW's end, not yours. This is usually do to a overloaded server or unscheduled and reported maintenance. There’s really nothing you can do about it other than sit tight and wait until things settle down. Besides, your addiction to this great game is starting to rot your brain anyway. Joking, you'll be fine.
